A CiviCRM Case Study
The Australian Childcare Alliance is a member-funded peak body for privately owned early childhood services in NSW that inherited a heavily customised, poorly supported CiviCRM on Joomla! 1.5. Faced with a complex membership model (membership inheritance across organisations and sub-contacts), undocumented customisations and poor performance, they decided to reimplement CiviCRM—planning the new system around their business processes and using CiviCRM components where appropriate.
The vendor reimplemented CiviCRM (using CiviEvent, CiviMember, CiviContribute, CiviMail and CiviReport on Joomla! 3.3), cleaned and restructured legacy data, ran a two‑phase rollout with a dedicated system administrator, and delivered customised training and step‑by‑step manuals. As a result CiviCRM now enables much faster member searches and membership updates, captures richer membership data, streamlines reporting and payments, and supports members‑only content and self‑service—dramatically reducing administrative overhead and improving service to members.
