A CiviCRM Case Study
South London Health Innovation and Education Cluster is an umbrella organisation that brings together healthcare education and delivery professionals across South London to diffuse innovations in areas such as dementia, diabetes, infection prevention and stroke and to support the QIPP agenda. They needed an integrated, single system for managing contacts, events and e-learning enrolments; the main challenge was understanding and configuring CiviCRM well enough to serve as the project’s integration “hub.”
CiviCRM was deployed for contact and event management and tightly integrated with the Drupal website and with Moodle (e‑learning) and Mahara (e‑portfolio), enabling health professionals to enroll directly and automatically in events and courses via the site. Implemented by the University of London Computer Centre and HIEC teams using reusable CiviCRM code and experience, the solution created a single training and events management platform that streamlined enrolment across the cluster, sped diffusion of best practices regionally, and reduced implementation effort through reuse of prior CiviCRM work.
