A CivicConnect Case Study
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission, which plans, finances and coordinates transportation across the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, needed a next generation 511 system to improve mobility for 8 million residents, visitors and workers. As congestion grew, its original 511.org system became expensive to maintain and difficult to manage because it relied on custom data sources, legacy software and colocated hardware.
CivicConnect provided the CivicConnect Platform to power the MTC NextGen 511 site, a mobile-responsive system that integrates data from more than 30 transportation agencies, along with parking, camera feeds, digital displays and other mobility information. The new platform reduced MTC’s operating costs, served over 20,000 unique users each day, and gave the agency analytics to better understand travel needs and improve services.
