A Cityworks Case Study

West Valley City - Customer Case Study

West Valley City, the second-largest city in Utah, faced inefficiencies from paper-based building inspection and code enforcement processes that required daily printing, manual data entry, and end-of-day office processing. To address this, West Valley City deployed Cityworks Server PLL (Permits, Licensing and Land) to mobilize inspectors and code officers in the field.

Using Cityworks Server PLL on field laptops (with printers and Sprint aircards over VPN), staff now create cases, conduct inspections, and enter results in real time from their vehicles, generate and post notices on-site, and email contractors immediate, readable inspection outcomes. The Cityworks deployment eliminated daily paperwork and lengthy data entry, increased operational efficiency, improved customer service, and “greatly improved our field processes,” according to West Valley City staff.
