A Cityworks Case Study
The Town of Flower Mound struggled with fragmented, department‑specific processes—some paper, some unsuitable software—that didn’t communicate, caused duplicated data, and made work orders and status tracking difficult. After an in‑depth evaluation the town selected Cityworks, a GIS‑centric asset management system, to provide an organization‑wide solution that would leverage existing GIS and standardize work management across departments.
Cityworks was rolled out to Customer Relations, multiple Public Works divisions, Parks, Meter Services, Utility Billing and as a notification system for other departments, with the GIS section managing set‑up and templates. Cityworks automated routing and reduced duplication, increased the amount of work completed, enabled tracking of labor, equipment and materials, sped up response to citizen complaints, and produced the quantifiable work and cost data needed for better budgeting and proactive asset replacement.
