The Sky is the Limit at Greenville with Cityworks

The City of Greenville faced the challenge of managing a large, dispersed portfolio of public assets and citizen service requests across many departments while improving coordination, response times, and productivity. To address this, the City of Greenville adopted Cityworks software (integrated with Esri’s ArcGIS), seeking a scalable, flexible system to track work, labor, materials, permits, and citizen interactions.

Cityworks was rolled out to more than 85 users across utilities, traffic, solid waste, streets, parks, parking, public safety, engineering, and customer service, with modules like Cityworks Storeroom and ArcGIS-mapped work orders. The solution delivered measurable results — a reported 400% increase in work output from 2010–2012, real-time field monitoring enabling 24-hour responses to citizen requests, streamlined permit inspections and inventory management, and better documentation (e.g., time-stamped snow/ice logs) that reduced liability and improved citizen satisfaction. Cityworks enabled Greenville to coordinate teams more efficiently and scale services without adding staff.
