Rothesay, New Brunswick Small Town Gets Big Asset Management Improvements

The Town of Rothesay, New Brunswick, serving just under 12,000 residents, faced outdated, siloed asset data, manual imports/exports, and a slow service-request workflow that left only five users with reliable asset access. Faced with PS 3150 reporting requirements for tangible capital assets, the town selected Cityworks Server 2012 to modernize GIS-based asset management and replace its legacy system.

Cityworks integrated with the town’s central geodatabase and automated service requests (including email notifications and over 40 customized templates), while field crews used tablets to update work in real time; Rothesay also implemented Esri Canada’s Asset Valuation Toolkit (AVT) for PSAB/PS 3150‑compliant asset valuation and depreciation. As a result, managers learn of requests within minutes instead of days, staff save hours previously lost to travel and manual processing, the town eliminated the need for an external contractor, and Rothesay is expanding Cityworks access to more than 20 users.
