Rothesay, New Brunswick Nets Big Improvements With Cityworks

The Town of Rothesay, New Brunswick faced slow, fragmented asset-management workflows from a legacy system that wasn’t integrated with its GIS. To speed response times and improve customer service, the Town of Rothesay selected Cityworks (using Cityworks Local Government Templates and planning Cityworks PLL) and also integrated Esri Canada’s Asset Valuation Toolkit (AVT) to support compliant asset valuation and reporting.

Cityworks implemented an integrated, GIS-driven platform that pulls from a central geodatabase, presents assets on an intuitive map, and automates service requests—Rothesay customized more than 40 templates across water/wastewater, transportation, parks, and more. Field crews using rugged tablets can view, update, and complete requests in the field with changes reflected immediately; staff now learn of service requests within minutes instead of days, travel and labor costs have been reduced, and the AVT eliminated the need for an external contractor for PSAB/PS 3150 reporting. Cityworks’ solution has sped repairs, improved citizen service, and extended to parks inspections and permit management.
