A Cityworks Case Study
The City of Arnold, Missouri, faced aging AIX servers, rising replacement and maintenance costs, and a need to mobilize inspections and GIS workflows. To modernize operations and reduce total cost of ownership, The City of Arnold, Missouri selected Cityworks Online (CWOL) — the cloud-hosted option of Cityworks — as a fast, cost-effective way to move Cityworks Server and GIS functionality off local servers.
Cityworks implemented CWOL through an intensive test phase that stressed mass work-order and service-request entries and then moved to full deployment. The result was a smooth rollout with “not a single complaint,” faster nightly backups handled by the hosted provider, elimination of planned server replacements and four years of associated maintenance, and offsetting of unused software license costs — delivering a clear ROI and enabling mobile field work and future online GIS hosting. Cityworks’ CWOL allowed Arnold to free staff from office-bound workflows and advance its cloud-hosted GIS roadmap.
