A Cityworks Case Study
Otay Water District, a Southern California water, recycled water and sewer service provider serving about 220,000 people, needed a GIS-centric asset management and reporting solution to integrate enterprise work orders, asset management, expenditures and capital planning. After a thorough needs assessment and vendor evaluation, the District selected Cityworks as the GIS-focused system that met its requirements for predictive analytics, GIS modeling and effective reporting.
Cityworks was implemented (with Esri GIS mapping and consulting support from Timmons Group), kicked off in 2014 and went live in July 2015, to centralize workflows and make preventive maintenance more efficient. Using Cityworks, staff across departments can now generate detailed management reports — including total repair costs, parts, labor, CCTV and machinery needs — model asset relationships, improve planning and analytics, and overall increase operational efficiency and staff empowerment.
