The City of Longview, Texas, faced an aging, failure-prone server that threatened access to core GIS and work-management systems. To address this, Longview moved to Cityworks in the cloud—using Cityworks Server AMS for asset and work management and Cityworks Server PLL for permits and inspections—hosted and managed by NTB Associates, while retaining local user access for customizations and testing.

By implementing Cityworks in the cloud, Longview gained reduced costs, increased scalability and flexibility, faster response times, remote access for staff to enter work orders from anywhere, and automatic failover that minimizes downtime. Cityworks enabled a dual live/test environment that lowered maintenance and sped up fixes, saving staff time and resources; the city now supports more than 80,000 residents and earned the Cityworks Exemplary User Award in 2013.
