Cityworks User Group Mobilizes Utilities Staff at City of Sanford

The City of Sanford, Florida, faced the challenge of mobilizing its public utilities staff to better manage field inspections and water-conservation work orders (such as meter leaks and re-reads) amid tighter resources and rising demands. In October 2011 Sanford launched a pilot using Cityworks, and a regional Cityworks User Group meeting helped catalyze wider adoption across the utilities team.

With support from Azteca Systems’ Client Relations team, Cityworks was deployed to field staff on laptops with 4G wireless so crews could receive, track, and respond to work orders in real time. Cityworks enabled Sanford to get crews "up and running" quickly, produce fast, visible improvements, and give management clear tracking of work activities and associated costs — results that are now driving plans to expand Cityworks to additional utility functions and other city departments.
