Cityworks Server Deployment in Novi Michigan from Concept to Reality

The City of Novi, Michigan, Department of Public Services faced rapidly growing infrastructure demands—more than 200 miles of roads, 306 miles of water mains and 245 miles of sanitary sewer—while trying to maintain service levels with the same staffing. To better manage roads, water, sewer, traffic signs and other assets, the City of Novi deployed Cityworks Server AMS in May 2012 as its first asset management system.

Cityworks Server AMS, integrated with cloud-based and on-premise ArcGIS Server services, gave Novi a GIS-centric work and asset management platform used by 23 staff across six operational divisions. Within a month the city processed more than 600 service requests/work orders (about 10,000 requests annually), eliminated duplicate work orders, moved operations nearly paperless, improved field-to-office coordination, and established maintenance histories and performance metrics to extend asset life and inform budgeting — measurable impacts delivered by Cityworks.
