Cityworks Delivers More Bang for the Buck in Philadelphia

The City of Philadelphia, home to 1.5 million residents, faced the challenge of tracking daily maintenance and costs, coordinating multiple departments, and meeting regulatory standards while managing large, multi-year projects. To address this, the city deployed Cityworks, the leading GIS-centric management solution, across the Streets, Water, and Parks & Recreation departments to handle service requests, work orders, and reporting for initiatives such as the 18,000-alley-light replacement program.

Cityworks was implemented with Esri integrations to route requests, dispatch the correct crews, and share daily updates between departments; it has handled more than 5,700 work orders for the alley-light project and is being extended for urban forestry with an expected ROI within a few years. Cityworks delivered faster dispatch, improved cross-department coordination, increased efficiencies and recognized cost savings, prompting broader adoption across the city.
