City of Woodland - Customer Case Study

City of Woodland, California — a growing community of about 55,500 residents — needed better mobile access to manage an expanding inventory of sewer, storm, water, electrical, parks and other assets, plus more accurate, paperless field inspections and work-order tracking. The city selected Cityworks, deploying Cityworks Anywhere (with Cityworks Desktop for ArcMap users) to connect field crews to the enterprise GIS and support CCTV inspection workflows.

Cityworks was implemented on terminal servers and integrated with the city’s Esri ArcSDE geodatabase, NetMotion VPN and ITPipes for CCTV inspections, with field crews using rugged laptops. The Cityworks deployment enabled real‑time creation, editing and completion of work orders, on-the-spot logging of labor/materials/equipment, geocoding of requests and consolidation of inspection data into a single database—reducing human error, accelerating data entry, improving GIS accuracy and shifting Public Works toward paperless, preventive maintenance and better reporting.
