A Cityworks Case Study
The City of Surrey, British Columbia, faced time‑intensive quarterly "sector checks" and the challenge of recording and tracking citizen requests, work orders and asset lifecycle data while integrating with finance, HR and warehousing systems. To address this, Surrey deployed Cityworks by Azteca Systems Inc., a GIS‑centric management solution that leverages their Esri ArcGIS data to support enterprise maintenance operations.
Cityworks provided a map‑centric enterprise system—integrated with ArcGIS and deployed on field Panasonic Toughbooks—giving crews real‑time access to asset details, work orders and user‑defined pick lists that reduced typing and eliminated printed map books. The result was streamlined, more consistent and compliant sector checks, improved data accuracy and accessibility across field crews, supervisors and managers, reduced reliance on paper, and recognition with an Esri Canada Award of Excellence; Cityworks enabled Surrey to maintain assets more efficiently and with fewer resources.
