A Cityworks Case Study
The City of St. Cloud, Florida, had relied on paper service requests and manually processed work orders that created delays, poor real-time visibility, and growing public-record storage burdens. To modernize field operations they used Cityworks Server (and later upgraded to Cityworks 2012.1 sp2 alongside Esri ArcGIS 10.1) and piloted a mobile field solution over Sprint 3G.
Cityworks implemented a mobile workflow on Dell semi-rugged laptops with Sprint 3G air-cards so technicians enter work and resolutions in real time; call takers can immediately verify status and crews no longer depend on paper. The Cityworks deployment cut paperwork and storage needs, sped up response and resolution times, improved customer service, reduced crew leads’ administrative load, and has been expanded across multiple Public Services units with further integrations planned.
