City of Hendersonville - Customer Case Study

The City of Hendersonville’s Water and Sewer Department was struggling with a paper-based work order system that produced redundant logs, isolated digital files, no spatial management, and limited access to work histories—creating information loss, poor interdepartmental communication, and inefficient reporting. To solve this, the city selected Cityworks, a GIS-centric CMMS solution, which the WSD and Public Works jointly acquired in 2009.

Cityworks was piloted with netbook-equipped crews and went live July 1, 2010, with Cityworks Anywhere for real-time field access and Cityworks Storeroom for inventory; the Traffic Division went live in April 2011 and Fleet rollout is underway. Cityworks delivered real-time maps and instant work-order histories in the field, improved employee accountability and customer service, reduced paperwork, tightened inventory and reporting workflows, and enabled GIS data corrections—measurable gains include a year’s worth of accessible operational data and rapid departmental adoption.
