A Cityworks Case Study
The City of Greenville faced the daily challenge of coordinating a high volume of public works tasks—managing utilities, construction inspections, parking facilities, a call center, and fluctuating materials and equipment—across many departments. To address this complexity, the City of Greenville deployed Cityworks (including Cityworks Storeroom and plans for a Server AMS upgrade) to provide a scalable, GIS-driven platform used by nearly every operational division.
Cityworks was implemented across stormwater, construction inspection, parking, Greenville Cares, and inventory management to route service requests, generate work orders, track materials, and log operations. The system enabled real-time monitoring and helped the city meet its 24-hour response objective for citizen requests, measure crew productivity (serviced storm assets and length of pipe/ditch cleaned), manage more than 7,000 parking spaces and habitual abusers, adopt just‑in‑time storeroom inventory, and create time‑stamped sand/salt logs for snow events—improving citizen satisfaction and increasing operational coverage without adding staff.
