A Cityworks Case Study
The City of Columbia struggled with a legacy CMMS that limited reporting, forced duplication of asset data between SDE and the old work-order system, and offered poor inventory control for storerooms. To address the need for a geocentric work-order and inventory solution that integrated with Esri GIS, Columbia selected Cityworks (including Cityworks Server AMS and related modules) to consolidate asset repositories and improve operational tracking.
Cityworks was piloted with the Street Division (pilot launched within 90 days, final go-live in June 2010) and rolled out enterprise-wide, with Columbia upgrading to Cityworks Server in six divisions (and plans for more), retiring the legacy CMMS and gaining access to historical data. The City implemented Cityworks largely in-house with Azteca remote support—saving tens of thousands of dollars—while benefiting from stronger reporting/export to Excel, GIS mapping and event layers, improved inventory and asset management of millions of dollars in infrastructure, and an Enterprise Licensing Agreement that enabled unlimited user access and better ROI.
