Easy to Use Data Reporting Aligns +50 After School Partners, Supports Improved Performance

Boston After School & Beyond (BASB) needed a better way to align 57 voluntary afterschool partners across 136 sites and serve more than 10,000 youth with shared, measurable goals. The organization lacked a standardized data platform that could combine multiple data inputs, show participation and outcomes clearly, and make it easier to recognize student skill gains. BASB worked with Cityspan to address these reporting and data collection challenges.

Cityspan implemented a flexible data reporting platform with web forms and data upload options, automated PRISM outcomes reporting aligned with NIOST and PEAR benchmarks, and a STEM badging module based on instructor survey results. The system gave BASB real-time visibility into enrollment and attendance, reduced manual reporting work and errors, and helped partners compare their performance to citywide results. In its first year, the badge pilot awarded 1,422 badges to 297 students, while also improving resource allocation and supporting ongoing program improvement.
