Cityspan Simplifies Complex Compliance Responsibilities for NYC After School Programs

The New York City Department of Education partnered with Cityspan to support its role as the Technical Assistance Center for federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Centers. Managing after school programs across hundreds of schools and nearly 60 nonprofit agencies created major compliance and reporting challenges, including protecting student privacy while aggregating data for federal, school-level, and agency-level reporting.

Cityspan implemented a flexible cloud-based data management platform that centralized student and program data, controlled access through user roles, and automated reporting for federal compliance and weekly performance monitoring. The solution reduced manual effort, improved transparency and accountability, and enabled NYC DOE to more quickly identify underperforming programs while maintaining support for ongoing funding and expansion into additional initiatives.
