A Citrix Case Study
Yaskawa, a global leader in industrial automation with more than 300,000 robots and 30 offices and seven production sites across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, was hampered by slow, costly WAN links (MPLS, broadband, DSL, radio). High latency made collaboration difficult—CAD drawings could take up to 25 minutes to open even from nearby offices—and SAP performance and printing were sluggish, reducing staff productivity.
Working with Citrix partner Advitum and Citrix Consulting Services, Yaskawa deployed Citrix SD‑WAN and used QoS to prioritize SAP, virtualized CAD, and voice/video traffic while allocating lower-priority tasks to cheaper links. The result was dramatic: CAD load times dropped from 25 minutes to 5 (an 80% improvement), collaboration and conferencing became viable, network reliability increased, plans to shift smaller sites to broadband began, and the project is expected to pay for itself in under a year.
