XenMobile makes mobile management a reality

The City Council of Reutlingen faced rapidly growing demand for mobile access to email, documents and administrative apps across smartphones and tablets, while needing to avoid legal and security risks from BYOD. The IT department sought a central, manageable solution to secure devices, control apps and separate professional from personal data for employees using council-provided devices.

Reutlingen implemented Citrix XenMobile (with XenApp and NetScaler) and worked with Macro Factory to deploy device registration, MDX app containers, a central App Store and WorxMail for secure email. The rollout delivered granular policy control (blocking jailbroken devices and insecure apps, enforcing WLAN-only installs), strict separation of corporate and personal data with selective remote wipe, reduced branch-office administration, and a growing app catalog—positioning the council to centrally manage 100+ mobile users.
