Virtual CAD desktops accelerate the development of innovative agricultural machinery at GRIMME

GRIMME, a family-owned German leader in potato and vegetable machinery with customers in 120 countries, needed to migrate to Siemens Teamcenter PLM and Siemens NX CAD‑CAM. The new software exceeded the capacity of existing workstations—about 70 endpoints no longer met requirements—and IT had to provision a 45‑station training environment quickly while supporting roughly 150 distributed design engineers.

GRIMME deployed Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops with NVIDIA GRID vGPU (Tesla M60) in collaboration with Citrix, NVIDIA and msg services, virtualizing graphics workstations so multiple designers can share high‑performance GPUs. The rollout delivered on‑time training, company‑wide access (including remote and tablet use for production), stronger data security, simpler upgrades and greater agility; it also cut five‑year CAD infrastructure costs by about 40% and reduced bandwidth needs by up to 75%.
