Tower Hamlets selects Citrix AppDNA to enable flexible working during Olympics

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets needed to provide secure flexible working for 4,700 staff during the 2012 Olympics by closing an office and migrating from Windows XP to a Windows 7 / Citrix XenDesktop VDI environment. With over 500 customised applications to validate and only two full‑time staff available, manual testing was estimated at more than 1,000 man‑days, a timeframe and cost the council could not afford.

Following Microsoft’s advice, Tower Hamlets selected Citrix AppDNA to automate pre‑migration compatibility testing and perform intelligent remediation. After a proof of concept and implementation with the AppDNA team, applications were rationalised and migrated on schedule, enabling the new secure flexible working environment, reducing migration risk and avoiding the cost of hiring additional staff.
