A Citrix Case Study
Citrix highlights how the town of Kloten modernized IT for six primary and secondary schools that had inconsistent, teacher-managed PCs, slow software rollouts and patchy networking. The city council’s IT organization needed a standardized, scalable way to centrally manage roughly 600 desktops and deliver current educational applications reliably and securely.
Using Citrix XenDesktop (with Microsoft App‑V and XenDesktop Profile Manager) hosted in the city data center and NetScaler for secure external access, the schools moved to virtual desktops and thin clients. The change cut administration and support effort, sped up application delivery and logins, enabled secure access from personal and mobile devices, and gave teachers more time for instruction while students always access up‑to‑date software.
