Case Study: Municipality Simpelveld achieves secure, anytime-anywhere device-independent mobility with Citrix

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Municipality Simpelveld Case Study

Time, place, and operate device-independent mobility thanks to outsourcing

The Municipality of Simpelveld, a small Dutch local government of about 11,000 residents, needed to modernize its IT estate—workstations, applications, servers and mobile devices—to enable secure, scalable, device-independent, anytime/anywhere working within a constrained budget. In 2013 the municipality issued a tender for a future‑proof, standardized infrastructure that prioritized continuity, manageability and availability.

Open Line delivered a cloud‑hosted Citrix solution—XenApp/XenDesktop for workspaces, NetScaler for secure access, and XenMobile with Worx apps for mobile management—using thin clients and centrally stored data. The deployment delivered unified login and secure remote access (RSA tokens, remote wipe, centralized data), increased flexibility and productivity for staff, and allowed the municipality to outsource IT operations so internal teams can focus on information management and user support.
