Thomas Eggar LLP is a top-100 U.K. law firm with about 500 staff across six offices. Its IT team faced a fragmented desktop estate of incompatible, specialist legal, practice and case-management applications that drove high support overheads and threatened security — a problem made urgent by a merger that required provisioning 74 new users overnight while maintaining confidential data protections.

Working with Thintech, the firm deployed Citrix XenApp to deliver a single, centrally managed virtual desktop and host platform-specific apps on separate VMs. The rollout simplified administration, enabled immediate deployment to the merged firm, extended PC lifecycles (PC replacement spend fell from ~£90k to £0 over three years), cut costs by using thin clients, and gave secure, flexible mobile access with two-factor authentication — paving the way for BYOD and further virtualization.
