A Citrix Case Study
The Languedoc‑Roussillon Regional Council set out to modernize IT across 87 public high schools but faced the high cost and complexity of maintaining a traditional PC fleet. Their goal was simple: provide easy‑to‑deploy, easy‑to‑manage and easy‑to‑maintain workstations that matched actual classroom needs (light web, multimedia and office tasks) while meeting strict student‑safety requirements.
They deployed Citrix XenDesktop VDI with thin clients and a centralized infrastructure managed by Citrix partner RDI Group. More than 3,200 terminals were rolled out, delivering faster, consistent access and centralized security; energy use dropped to around 10% of a PC and investment costs were cut by about 30%. Teachers and students quickly adopted the system, which simplified IT management, kept online apps up to date and supported further features like centralized printing and interactive projectors.
