Statsbygg, Norway’s government building agency responsible for delivering practical premises and managing hundreds of construction projects, faced a growing challenge: increasingly complex 3D and CAD applications demanded powerful local workstations, driving up costs and administrative overhead. The agency needed a cost‑effective way to virtualize and deliver heavy graphics applications to engineers, architects and consultants without compromising performance or security.

Partnering with Citrix and specialist First Point, Statsbygg upgraded to XenApp, deployed Nvidia GPU acceleration and Citrix NetScaler, and moved to thin Dell clients so applications run from the data center. The solution—one of the first of its kind in Norway—improved security and traffic management, sped deployments, enabled remote and tablet access to heavy apps, reduced administration, and delivered measurable flexibility and operational cost savings.
