Case Study: Socofin (Bank of Chile collection services) achieves higher availability and lower costs with Citrix virtualization solutions

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Socofin Case Study

Socofin uses Citrix solutions to virtualize servers and deliver applications

Socofin, a Bank of Chile–owned company with 29 branches across 15 regions, manages collections and credit normalization using bandwidth‑intensive systems like Siebel, Oracle Flexcube and Cognos. Its dispersed network required a way to centrally administer branches, rapidly provision workstations and securely deliver business applications without relying on large broadband links.

Socofin implemented a Citrix architecture—XenServer, XenApp, XenDesktop, NetScaler and Access Gateway—virtualizing 25 physical servers onto three hosts over a four‑month rollout with partner e‑Contact. The result was centralized, more secure application delivery, 70% reduction in server footprint, lower power and cooling costs, higher availability (enabling rapid activation of virtual branches during the 2010 earthquake) and a pilot for desktop virtualization to scale virtual workstations to all 500 users.
