SMG speeds up go-to-market time and reduces costs with Citrix

The Samvardhana Motherson Group (SMG) is a global manufacturing conglomerate whose IT arm, MothersonSumi Infotech & Designs Ltd. (MIND), supports more than 14 production units for Motherson Automotive Technologies & Engineering (MATE). Each plant previously ran its own servers, databases and support teams, creating IT bottlenecks, high capital expenditure and slow go-to-market times as the company expanded.

MIND ran a PoC and implemented Citrix XenApp on Citrix XenServer with an MPLS WAN and a centralized data centre to deliver the in‑house ERP and web apps. The rollout consolidated servers from 22 to 8, cut desktop management and skilled-staff costs, improved financial visibility across plants, enabled subsidiaries to access the system remotely, and shortened new-plant go-to-market time by about three months; MIND is now evaluating Citrix XenDesktop/VDI next.
