A Citrix Case Study
SK Telecom, a leading Korean telecommunications company, needed a more efficient way for its mobile content partners to develop and deploy services. Partners previously had to build separate development and commercial environments—an expensive, time-consuming process—so SK Telecom decided to create a PaaS cloud to simplify resource provisioning and speed service development.
SK Telecom selected Citrix XenServer for its function, stability and cost-effectiveness and built a virtualized platform that turns 80 physical servers into roughly 600 virtual machines (about a 7.5:1 ratio). The PaaS now supports around 20 services, reduces time, cost and human resources for development and deployment, and provides flexible resource management with plans to expand the cloud to external partners.
