A Citrix Case Study
SIRVA, a global relocation services company handling more than 300,000 moves annually and operating in over 40 countries with about 2,600 employees, faced rising costs and management headaches from a distributed IT environment across Australia, Asia and the Middle East. The small regional IT team struggled with hardware, licensing and maintenance expenses, application release management, and disaster recovery after an unsatisfactory experience with a competitor’s virtualization solution.
SIRVA centralized its infrastructure in Melbourne and extended its Citrix application-delivery platform, then adopted Citrix XenServer (using the free edition) and migrated 18 servers in under three days with XenConvert. The move eliminated licensing fees, cut total cost of ownership by roughly 80%, and delivered better CPU utilization, higher I/O throughput and an improved user experience; SIRVA is now evaluating XenServer Platinum and broader XenApp migration to further enhance availability and end-to-end application delivery.
