Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE), owner of the San Jose Sharks and several other sports and event properties, needed a more agile, energy-efficient IT model to support scouts and staff who work from venues worldwide. Frequent travel, heavy file and video sharing, inconsistent client/server performance and an IT goal to meet LEED energy-efficiency targets created a “perfect storm” for a mobility and centralization solution.

SSE deployed Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix Receiver (building on existing XenApp use) to deliver centralized desktops and apps to any device. The result: secure, consistent access 24/7 from thin clients, tablets or laptops; simplified IT management and lower support costs; improved employee productivity and work–life balance; and reduced energy use through thin-client virtualization.
