As content shifted from print to digital, Van Dijk chose to insource IT and build an internal cloud and datacenter, requiring a flexible, cost‑effective platform to secure, scale and ensure high availability for business‑critical web services.

Van Dijk deployed a Citrix NetScaler 11500 SDX HA pair in active‑active mode with GSLB across two datacenters, hosting multiple virtual ADC instances. The solution delivered on‑demand scalability (simple license upgrades for growth), strong security via the App Firewall (protecting acquired sites and development testing with VPX), and performance gains from SSL offload, caching and compression—doubling webserver capacity and supporting more than a million customers and thousands of concurrent e‑learning sessions while preserving certification and market leadership.
