A Citrix Case Study
Croatian Post, the national postal service of Croatia with more than 9,500 employees across 1,000+ offices and half a billion annual customer transactions, faced a fragmented IT landscape. Discrete branch servers, aging thin‑client software (over 2,000 thin‑client versions), and slow, manual application rollouts strained IT teams, increased costs, and lengthened time to deploy new services.
Working with Combis, Croatian Post centralized and virtualized its infrastructure using Citrix XenDesktop, XenMobile and NetScaler (ADC and Gateway), plus an active‑active data‑center design. The solution enabled virtualized desktops and mobile management, application load balancing, and centralized updates—allowing new services to be rolled out in hours instead of weeks, eliminating branch servers, cutting maintenance and equipment failures, saving about $100,000/year in electricity with a 6–7 year ROI, and earning a public‑sector IT award.
