Places for People is a UK not‑for‑dividend property management, development and regeneration group managing 143,000 properties with over 5,000 staff. Rapid growth had left it with an expensive, fragmented IT estate—1,500 PCs across 35 offices and 200 smaller sites—forcing staff to visit offices to access confidential tenant data and hindering a mobile workforce while needing to meet strict data‑security requirements.

Working with Open Reality, Places for People deployed a Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp virtual desktop and Citrix Receiver BYOD solution with centrally managed thin clients and improved disaster recovery. The new environment boosted field productivity and customer satisfaction, delivered £550,000 in capital savings and about £180,000 annual savings, cut carbon emissions by ~400 tonnes per year, and freed resources to reinvest in services.
