PASI embraces virtual desktops for cost-effective IT

Oman's Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) provides pensions and workplace-insurance services to Omani citizens with about 500 staff across eight offices. Because offices are widely dispersed, IT faced high costs and lost productivity from on-site PC support, plus challenges keeping software licensed, patched and securely accessible for staff working from different locations.

PASI partnered with a Citrix Solution Advisor to deploy XenDesktop and XenApp with NComputing thin clients, centralizing desktops and applications in the data center. Support calls and hardware maintenance fell sharply, data is protected centrally to reduce leakage and downtime, and IT can manage patches and licenses centrally while users securely access personal virtual desktops with good performance even on low-bandwidth links.
