Case Study: Osaka Gas achieves heightened security and seamless operations with Citrix XenDesktop

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Osaka Gas Case Study

Osaka Gas provides secure application availability with XenDesktop

Osaka Gas Information System Research Institute (OGIS-RI), the IT arm of Osaka Gas Co., operates full outsourcing and a call center that supports Osaka Gas systems. The team faced a classic trade-off: tighten security to prevent personal data leaks and close firewall ports, but avoid disrupting day-to-day operations or modifying legacy applications that didn’t support multiuser delivery.

OGIS-RI deployed Citrix XenDesktop with thin clients at the call center and used XenApp and NetScaler across other infrastructures to deliver virtual desktops and apps securely across the firewall. The solution kept data off endpoint devices, preserved existing applications without modification, enabled closure of unnecessary firewall ports, and delivered stable, easy management—backed by responsive Citrix support. OGIS-RI is now extending remote access capabilities to ensure business continuity for disasters or pandemics.
