Orascom beats poor bandwidth for better cross-team collaboration

Orascom Construction, a global engineering and construction contractor with more than 50,000 employees, struggled with poor and inconsistent internet connectivity at project sites that hampered collaboration and the performance of core apps—particularly Microsoft Skype for Business and virtualized ERP and project software. Their legacy Cisco ACE load‑balancer was reaching end of life and lacked the configurability, reporting and scalability needed to address these issues.

Orascom replaced the ACE with a redundant pair of Citrix NetScaler MPX 8010 appliances and continued using Citrix XenApp to virtualize key applications. NetScaler now load‑balances Exchange, Skype for Business and other apps, optimizes limited bandwidth, secures remote access, and provides better visibility and simpler administration—resulting in improved video conferencing and application performance, higher availability, easier scaling and more productive, satisfied staff.
