City Index, a global financial trading provider headquartered in London with datacenters in London and Florida, needed a cost-effective way to replace end-of-life load balancers and legacy access gateways while consolidating infrastructure. The firm sought an application delivery controller with an extended feature set—global load balancing, DNS rewriting, SSL offload, compression and caching—plus a simpler licensing model to reduce appliance sprawl and operating costs.
City Index deployed Citrix NetScaler SDX and NetScaler VPX instances as HA pairs across its London datacenters, consolidating fourteen F5 BIG‑IP appliances and two Access Gateways down to six SDX appliances. The new solution simplified licensing and provisioning, cut support, rack space and power/cooling costs, provided on‑demand features, and ensured 24x7 availability of trading platforms via global load balancing and SSL offload.
