NetScaler Ensures Security and Availability of Applications for the Lampeter-Strasburg School District

Lampeter‑Strasburg School District (L‑S), which supports over 3,300 K–12 students and runs a datacenter with about 70 servers and a private‑cloud virtual desktop environment, needed to replace its end‑of‑sale Microsoft TMG reverse proxy. The IT team required an application delivery controller with load balancing, SSL VPN and SSL offload, broad device compatibility, ease of use for end users, and a single point of management to keep intellectual property secure while providing 24/7 remote access.

L‑S implemented two Citrix NetScaler MPX 8200 appliances in a high‑availability pair. NetScaler Gateway provided SSL VPN for secure remote access, while NetScaler’s load balancing and SSL offload improved application availability and performance and simplified web access management as a central proxy. The deployment strengthened security, consolidated management, and boosted operational efficiency, with plans to enable additional features like web application firewall, SSL acceleration, compression and caching.
