Case Study: National Cancer Institute (NCI) achieves faster treatment and better patient care with Citrix XenDesktop

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the National Cancer Institute Case Study

NCI treats cancer patients more quickly with Citrix

Egypt’s National Cancer Institute (NCI), the largest cancer hospital in the Middle East with 550 beds and a quarter‑million patients a year, struggled with paper records and printed scan images that were costly to store, often lost, and caused long delays for consultations and multidisciplinary reviews. Patients had to bring physical films to meetings, creating inefficiency, overcrowding and interruptions to care.

NCI partnered with Citrix Platinum Solution Advisor eSky IT to deploy Citrix XenDesktop as a PACS access solution in a new 30‑room outpatient clinic, giving clinicians secure, instant access to complete patient records and high‑definition images from any terminal. The change eliminated the need for patients to carry films, sped diagnoses and consultations (allowing specialists to see up to 20 patients a day), reduced printing costs, and improved the overall quality and efficiency of cancer care.
