Nationstar Mortgage Streamlines Data Center Migration, Saving Thousands of Hours

Nationstar Mortgage, a leading U.S. mortgage servicer, faced severe IT strain after tripling its headcount through rapid growth and acquisitions. The company had hundreds of inconsistent servers and a single desktop image that delivered every app to every user, causing slow logins, widespread performance problems (including system-wide lockups from intensive Excel queries), about 300 help-desk tickets per day, and even a major outage with no easy back-out.

Nationstar implemented a three-step virtualization plan—streamlined desktop provisioning, separation of applications from the OS, and user‑type–specific resource profiles—using Citrix solutions. The result: much faster provisioning (10 VMs in ~20 minutes), simple thin‑client onboarding, seamless data-center migration that saves thousands of hours, fewer performance incidents and support tickets, and stronger security and compliance for an expanding BYOD environment.
