Mondial Assistance France Innovates by Adopting Telecommuting with Citrix XenDesktop

Mondial Assistance France, a global leader in assistance, travel insurance and personal services with 1,800 employees, sought to modernize operations and introduce telecommuting to improve service continuity and employee work‑life balance. The challenge was to deliver secure, consistent, high‑performance desktops to home-based staff—handling large file transfers and remote deployment across multiple sites—without disrupting existing IT management practices.

The company implemented Citrix XenDesktop, using lightweight terminals that connect over ADSL to corporate data centers and deliver full virtual desktops via the HDX protocol and Citrix Provisioning Server. Deployed rapidly in mid‑2010, the pilot scaled to a dozen remote workers within three months (with a target of 40 by end‑2011), improved call quality and noise reduction, helped absorb peak activity, supported disability inclusion, and preserved service levels while enhancing employee wellbeing.
