Case Study: Cancer Research UK achieves secure mobile working and faster collaboration with Citrix XenMobile

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Cancer Research UK Case Study

Mobile working accelerates Cancer Research UK towards its goal

Cancer Research UK is a major charity funding thousands of scientists and aiming to improve cancer survival rates. After consolidating eight London sites into a hot‑desking office and facing aging PCs, the organisation needed a secure, cost‑effective and flexible IT workspace that would let committee members, researchers and fund‑raisers collaborate and access sensitive data from any device without compromising supporter or research confidentiality.

The charity deployed a virtual desktop and Citrix XenMobile EMM (with NetScaler, ShareFile and Worx apps) alongside thin clients, giving staff secure mobile access to virtual desktops and files. The rollout simplified device, app and data management (500 users deployed in 30 minutes), enabled secure committee collaboration and faster funding decisions, mobilised fund‑raisers, and increased productivity—supporting the organisation’s strategy to use technology as a key accelerator toward its mission.
