Case Study: Kroenert achieves secure, high-performance CAD collaboration with Citrix XenDesktop

A Citrix Case Study

Preview of the Kroenert Case Study

Manufacturer improves collaboration with external developers with Citrix XenDesktop

Kroenert, a Hamburg–based mechanical engineering firm and global leader in turnkey coating systems, relied heavily on CAD work and frequently partnered with two external engineering firms. Their prior approach—shipping secured, encrypted workstations and accessing central files over VPN—caused long model load/save times (up to 30 minutes), risked data loss, and left the company uneasy about sensitive designs leaving the datacenter.

Kroenert deployed Citrix XenDesktop with HDX 3D Pro and dedicated GPU pass-through in the datacenter, delivering virtualized Siemens NX desktops to external engineers. The result: near‑local CAD performance (often faster than LAN), much faster file operations over the datacenter’s 10 Gb network, stricter central data control with multilevel authentication and granular access rights, and improved collaboration without exposing intellectual property.
