Leroy Merlin - Customer Case Study

Leroy Merlin, a major French home-improvement retailer with 120 stores, wanted to improve in‑store customer service by freeing sales assistants from fixed, aging multi‑user workstations that raised security and confidentiality concerns. The IT team’s challenge was to centralize applications and user profiles while maintaining performance and fast session start times so staff could move freely around the sales floor and better assist customers.

Leroy Merlin piloted a redesigned infrastructure at a new Gonesse store and deployed Citrix XenApp, virtualizing about 60% of applications on redundant data‑center servers. Using HDX for a good experience over 10 Mbps links and EdgeSight for monitoring, the rollout reached 90 active stations with RFID badge single‑session access (sub‑10 second logons), improving mobility, security and ease of use. The success enabled a broader rollout to thousands of virtual desktops (7,000+ planned across stores), modernizing the retail IT footprint.
